Gris Grimly has taken a classic horror and turned it into something hauntingly beautiful and amazing. Adult Written by Mpirata November 8, However, for a plot driven frankensteim like me, it’s just Gris Grimly is now one of my frankensteln people, because his version of Frankenstein is the most incredible thing I’ve read this year.
The characters are ugly, the pictures seem dirty, and there are skulls and bones everywhere. Seeing the pictures and reading the text really made me understand how Victor Frankenstein was feeling and how truly melancholy he was.
The story broke my heart, something I really wasn’t expecting. I’d never read Frankenstein before so I’m glad this book actually got me to read the story.
Drawing Rock ‘N’ Roll And Sympathy Into Frankenstein’s World
It is clear that Grimly uses facial features to highlight moods or motives of the character, even changing the way they look as the character changes. The drawings were sensational fankenstein were grisly, Macabre, and gothic, but breath taking all at the same time.
The people have rather punk-ish, darkly Gothic clothes and styles, while the world in which Grimly has placed them has an unexpectedly steampunk sort of feel. For example, Victor’s middle brother drops out of the story completely after view spoiler [ Victor’s baby brother, William, is killed. Victor searched for the monster and aimed at ending his life, but the wretched being was too strong to overpower. But as he studies the sciences further and further, he begins to obsess over his discovery.
The important characters were of course featured, with Frankenstein, his family, Monster, etc, each having traits that I succeeded to recognize at first glance so I suppose they came from some visual adaptation I stumbled on at rfankenstein point. I’m ffrankenstein happy with my purchase of this book and it looks gorgeous on my bookshelf! Through very intricate, yet unassuming drawings Grimly creates a new face for the tale, while telling the same old story.
