The Diwani and Diwani Jali scripts are official scripts of the Ottoman court used to write documents such as official correspondences, proclamations, and title appointments and thus its other name Hamayuni.

The first opinion would be that the Diwani script was written about 50 years after the emergence of the Diwani Jali script. The origin of this script is disputed due to the similarity of its strokes to other scripts and styles.
